Waxing FAQs
Does it hurt?
Here at Bodylines we are not into pain, after all we get waxed too! We want to make your experience as pain free and comfortable as possible. If it is your first wax or if you have been clipping, shaving or using depilatory creams, your hair will have become stronger, so you may feel a slight discomfort. This only lasts a few seconds. Once you have been waxed the hair weakens, so each time it becomes more comfortable. For best results, return every 4-5 weeks for your waxing.
I’m nervous! Help!
Don’t be nervous, you are in good hands. It is normal to be apprehensive, after all it’s not every day you’re half naked in front of a stranger is it?! Your Waxpert has seen it all and has the t-shirt. This is her job, so don’t be shy or embarrassed. We want to give you the best wax you have ever had.
What do I do before my wax?
A few days before your appointment exfoliate the area. This helps get rid of expired cells and prepare the hair for your wax. On the day of your wax do not moisturise, apply deodorants or have any hot showers or heat based treatments (i.e. sauna, steam, sunbeds) If you have sensitive skin, why not have a complimentary patch test 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. Try and avoid getting waxed in the run up to your period as you will be more sensitive. Avoid drinking caffeine on the day of your wax as it sensitises you. Strange but true! Now relax and wax!
What is hot wax?
Hot wax is sometimes also known as hard wax or peelable wax, and is a wax that does not require paper strips to remove it, it is peeled off. As the wax sets, it shrink-wraps around the hair and lifts it up from the follicle. When it sets it is then simply peeled off. It is the most suitable wax for facial, underarm and bikini waxing. It is great for sensitive skin.
